Hey there, I’m Khalisah, an American-Malaysian sustainability consultant and one-time TEDx speaker currently based in the UAE. I have a Masters in Sustainable Tourism Management from Barcelona, I am trained in the GSTC standards and I oversaw the GDS-Index between 2021-2022, which had 78 criteria in its methodology at the time.
As a Changemaker at the GDS-Movement, I was a relationship manager, assessor, and report writer for over 30+ Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) across Europe and Asia, including Amsterdam&Partners, Failte Ireland, VisitOslo, Marketing Liverpool, Sarawak Tourism Board, and Singapore Tourism Board.
Before sustainability and consultancy, I worked at tech and travel companies in their content and marketing teams. I was a Digital Project Manager at Dubai Tourism and the English Content Manager at Almosafer (an online travel agency). In both roles, I managed small teams and actively brought together stakeholders to execute campaigns and projects in the MENA region.
My undergrad in International Relations and my post-grad in sustainable tourism inform my worldview and approach to work, and my varied global experiences have equipped me with intercultural communication fluency and leadership skills in the workplace.
